Privacy Policy
Last updated: [Date]
This policy explains what Better Leaders Training Institute ("BLTI", "we", "us") collects when you use www.blti.training, why, and what control you have over it.
Information we collect
- Account information — your name, email address, and password (stored as a salted hash, never in plain text) when you register.
- Payment information — course purchases are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number; Stripe shares back only what's needed to confirm your order (amount, a payment reference, and the billing email you provide).
- Course activity — lesson completion, quiz answers and scores, flashcard review history, and final exam attempts, so we can track your progress and issue a certificate when you've earned one.
- Support communications — anything you send us directly, e.g. a support email.
- Free downloads — if you enter your email to get a free guide or resource, we keep that email (and your name, if you gave one) so we can occasionally send you related updates. Contact us any time to be removed from that list; it doesn't affect access to anything you've already purchased.
- Free ATS Resume Checker — if you use our free resume-checking tool, we temporarily process the resume file you upload and the job posting (or description) you provide, using an AI service, to generate a match score and a rewritten version of your resume. Your email is only collected if you choose to download the result. Everything — the file, the extracted content, and the analysis — is automatically and permanently deleted 30 days after submission, whether or not you downloaded anything.
Proctored final exam monitoring
Some courses require a proctored final exam to earn a certificate. Before any monitoring starts, you're shown a consent screen and must actively agree before we request camera access. If a given exam requires it, here's exactly what happens:
- The exam must be taken in fullscreen mode; leaving fullscreen is logged.
- Your webcam takes periodic snapshots for the duration of the exam.
- A detector running entirely in your own browser checks that a face is visible in each snapshot. This only ever produces a count — zero, one, or more than one face — it does not identify who you are, and we never generate or store a facial recognition template or biometric embedding of any kind. No video or image data is sent anywhere for this check; it happens locally on your device.
- Tab switches and window focus changes during the exam are logged.
Snapshot images are stored for 90 days and then automatically and permanently deleted by an automated process; only the fact that a snapshot existed (not the image itself) is kept afterward, for audit purposes. Access to any of this evidence is restricted to BLTI staff directly responsible for reviewing exam integrity (site administrators, board members, and the instructor of that specific course) — it is never visible to other students, and never used for any purpose other than confirming the exam was taken honestly.
If you have an accessibility need or a device limitation that makes webcam or fullscreen monitoring impractical, contact us before your exam — a staff member can grant an exemption for your attempt.
How we use your information
To provide the service you signed up for: authenticate you, deliver course content you've purchased or been granted access to, grade quizzes and exams, issue and let others verify your certificates, process payments, and respond to support requests. We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell your personal information to anyone.
How we share your information
We share the minimum necessary with:
- Stripe, to process payments.
- Anthropic (the maker of the Claude AI model), if you use the AI Coach on a course or the free Resume Checker — the content you submit is sent to their API to generate a response, under their own data-handling terms.
- A corporate buyer, if they purchased seats in bulk — they see which of their redemption codes have been used, but not your quiz or exam scores or exam evidence.
We don't share your data with anyone else except where required by law.
How long we keep your information
Account and course-progress data is kept for as long as your account exists, so you retain access to your purchased courses and certificates. Proctoring snapshot images are deleted after 90 days as described above. You can request deletion of your account at any time (see "Your rights" below); we'll retain only what we're legally required to for financial record-keeping (e.g. transaction records).
Your rights
You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account and associated data, by contacting privacy@blti.training. Deleting your account will revoke access to any courses you purchased individually; issued certificates remain publicly verifiable by number, since removing them would let anyone invalidate a certificate an employer may be relying on.
Cookies and sessions
We use a session cookie to keep you logged in and a CSRF-protection cookie required for the site to function securely — these are never optional, since the site can't work without them. With your consent, given through the cookie banner shown on your first visit (and changeable any time via the 🍪 button in the corner of any page), we may also use analytics cookies to understand how the site is used. See our Cookie Policy for the full, specific list of every cookie we use, what each one does, and how long it lasts.
Who this service is for
BLTI's courses are intended for adult learners and working professionals. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we make a material change to this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify account holders by email.
